TOUR DIFFICULTY
We will travel approximately 16 miles (26 km) of unpaved roads with little traffic immersed in the rolling Tuscan hills.
FROM MONTERONI D'ARBIA TO THE SITE TRANSITOIRE
In 1993 the French artist Jean-Paul Philippe installed this stone sculpture, composed of different elements: a chair that welcomes the traveller, a bench or sarcophagus and a large window inside which, the solar disk sets, the day of the summer solstice. Precisely during the day of the summer solstice the sun sets in the perpendicularity of the large stone window, creating a truly enchanting spectacle.
PASSING THROUGH THE WHITE STREETS OF THE EROICA
To reach the Site Transitoire we will travel along breathtaking dirt roads immersed in the uncontaminated nature of the Tuscan hills. A part of these roads are used every year during the famous Eroica race. On this excursion we will pedal for about 35km on comfortable E-Bikes in the company of a local guide who knows this area like the back of his hand.
WHY VISIT THE CRETE SENESI BY E-BIKE?
The Crete Senesi are a splendid area characterized by rolling hills, isolated farmhouses and treeless land, which create a unique and captivating panorama. The name Crete in Italian literally translates to "Clay Hills" and the area takes its name from its distinctive clay-rich soil which has eroded over the centuries, resulting in a beautiful landscape of soft, rolling slopes that vary color from beige to reddish. These characteristics, combined with the large extension of the region, make Crete the ideal place to be visited by E-Bike.
AFTER THE RIDE, A DESERVED RELAX
Asciano is located in the immediate vicinity of Rapolano Terme: an idyllic place for lovers of thermal baths. After finishing the long ride we highly recommend a stop at the Antica Querciolaia spa, famous for being three centuries old and for having hosted and cared for Giuseppe Garibaldi in 1867, recovering from his wounds in the battle of Aspromonte. The cost for entry, bathrobe, slippers and towel is €60 per person.
